If your laptop battery dies while away from a power source, you can quickly end up stranded with a dead and useless machine. Computing mobility might be a frivolous "want" to the casual user, such as a music or movie enthusiast; however, students and professionals need adequate battery power in laptops for learning and work-related purposes. If you have Windows, you can monitor and be alerted to battery power levels, similar to dashboard functionality in modern automobiles.
Instructions
- Click on the icon for the battery by the system time on the taskbar. Select "More Options" from the pop-up menu.
- Click "Change Plan Settings" for the power plan currently in use, as indicated by the radio button.
- Click "Change Advanced Power Settings."
- Scroll down to find "Battery" in the dialog box. Click the plus sign "+" to expand it.
- Click the expand the subcategories under Battery. Decide on and select the options you prefer for monitoring. For example, select "On" under "Low Battery Notification."
- Click "Apply" and "OK" when all of the selections have been made.
